Our Story
The Dance Inn has offered dance programs for preschoolers through adults since 1983. Classes are available for recreational dancers and pre-professional students in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, and modern disciplines. The classroom experience focuses on sharing the love of dancing while building a solid technical foundation—dancers of all ages and ability levels gain the tools to express themselves with confidence and joy. With an emphasis on creativity and technique, our main session culminates in an annual recital that brings families together in an entertaining celebration of dance. Students are showcased in a non-competitive, uplifting performance where every dancer shines! The Dance Inn proudly offers a spring session from late April-June, featuring exciting class options that encourage students to engage with dance in new and challenging ways. After spring concludes, summer fun begins, inclusive of classes and week-long experiences for all ages.
Director's Note
I opened The Dance Inn because I love teaching dance. Since the day I opened my doors my goals and mission have largely remained the same: to provide the finest dance training and programming possible to children and adults. Regardless of age or ability, I believe that each student has the innate capacity to experience all that dance has to offer: a unique connection to one's body, an opportunity to joyfully move as a musical instrument, and a life-long membership in a worldwide artistic community. The benefits are endless. Whether in the classroom, in a local community event, on a Broadway stage, or in their day-to-day lives, what I love most about my students is seeing them engage in life with confidence and joy, willing to take risks and, as I say to my adult students, "...aging rhythmically." Although the number of students has changed and we now have more classrooms, more teachers and more performances, what remains the same is my passion for teaching.
My hope is that The Dance Inn continues to be a home away from home for both the recreational dancer and the aspiring professional and that our students continue to share and experience the joy of dance throughout their lives.

FAQs
What is the attendance policy
Weekly attendance is necessary to provide the reinforcement and continuity of instruction needed to teach an individual the coordinated skills of a dancer. We hope students will be in class every week but when an absence is unavoidable, please remember to inform the office via email or phone so we may alert the teachers.
Can my child wait and join classes in January?
Unfortunately, no. Each class is based on a curriculum that progresses from September through March. Our spring session is a great option for dancers unable to attend in the fall.
Can a student make up a missed class?
When space allows, students can attend another session of their level if offered. Please confirm availability before coming to a make-up class.
What holidays do you observe?
The Dance Inn generally follows the Lexington Public School calendar, however we do not close for Monday holidays as there are just too many. Our Calendar page has all planned closings. If a date is not listed, assume we are open. Call the office if you are still unsure.
Can my child try a class?
Yes, any child can try a class before making a commitment. The Dance Inn charges $25.00 to try a class, which is used towards tuition if you decide to register for the full session.
Does The Dance Inn produce an annual recital?
An annual production is held in late March or early April. Students will be notified in September of the exact date. Costumes are ordered in November/December. You must notify the studio IN WRITING by November 1st if your child chooses not to participate. Tickets for reserved seats are ordered online in February.
Does The Dance Inn compete?
No! The Dance Inn believes that dance, as an art form, should not be judged. In addition, we believe that there is more value in the study of dance, rather than the perfection of a single routine. At our studio, students find pride in focusing on their classroom achievements and reaching personal goals.
Can parents observe their child's classes?
Parents are invited to special observation classes two times during the dance season. The first one is in mid-November, and the second coincides with costume distribution week, which is usually 3-4 weeks before the recital.
