The Dance Inn Youth Intensive

The Dance Inn Youth Intensive is for young dancers ages 9 to 13 interested in a more intensive program that offers training and performance opportunities beyond the annual recital. Dancers enter the program after completing TJB III and attend classes in tap, jazz, and ballet two to three times a week.

DIYI dancers must participate in performances and special workshops throughout the school year. Additional performances include our Annual Holiday Show, Lexington's Discovery Day, the Lexington Patriot's Day Parade, and the Festival of Colors in Lexington. Other events are occasionally added. Many of our Youth Intensive Dancers move onward to audition for the studio’s pre-professional team, the Legacy Dance Company.

Youth Intensive dancers should follow the weekly blog for important information throughout the year:

The Legacy Dance Company

Legacy Dance Company (LDC) is a nationally recognized, pre-professional company for dancers ages 12 to 18. With an emphasis on building strong minds and healthy bodies, our faculty strives to support each student's growth as an artist. We build strong technique and powerful performance skills in tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip-hop, and ballet. Legacy students are also introduced to improvisation, dance history, and injury prevention/self-care. In addition to the annual recital, performances include the Jose Mateo Dance for World Community event in Cambridge, our annual Holiday Show in the winter, and several local spring events. Legacy Dancers are invited to travel for further study and exposure to the dance industry, including a trip to NYC in January for a weekend of classes and Broadway shows. LDC dancers receive many opportunities to study with teachers from all over the world in workshops hosted by the studio.

The Dance Inn is proud to host a chapter of the National Honor Society in Dance Arts (NHSDA). Many Legacy Dancers choose to participate in this international program that honors the exceptional commitment that young dancers make to this art form.

New students with prior dance experience interested in joining the Legacy Dance Company should reach out to the director, Nicole Holloway (diyilegacy@gmail.com), to discuss audition opportunities.

Legacy members should follow the blog for important information throughout the year:

About Time Tappers

About Time Tappers is the adult performing company of The Dance Inn. These dancers range in age from 23-86 and perform classic tap choreography under the direction of Thelma Goldberg and other Dance Inn faculty. We often have guest teachers drop in for fun workshops. Extra practices are occasionally scheduled during performance time (usually Sundays).

A desire to share the joy of dance with others is all that's required.  Mixed-level choreography is often developed so that the About Time Tappers can include as many dancers as possible who want to be part of this unique dance company.  Those interested in participating in this fun performance program are encouraged to contact the studio.

A few annual ATT performance opportunities include:

Annual Holiday Show Performances: early December

Annual Dance Inn Recital: late March/Early April

Lexington Discovery Day: Memorial Day Weekend, May
